PROGRAM: Marjorie Monroe-Fischer: Music in China
Thank you for your patience with my computer difficulties,
Thank you for wanting to hear more and especially
Thank you to Bill Popp for allowing me to finish my program this month!
Don't miss this opportunity to learn about the History of Music in China,
their unique instruments, Chinese Opera and how children learn there.
ABOUT MARJORIE:
Marjorie Monroe-Fischer has been teaching piano for more than twenty-five years - in the Northern Colorado area for fifteen years.
She has also taught organ, harpsichord, voice, conducting, music theory and music history.
Formerly on the faculty at Sheldon Jackson College in Alaska, the Cleveland Institute of Music, and AIMS Community College,
she has been organist and choir director for several Loveland churches, and has much accompanying experience.
She has organ performance and choral conducting degrees from
Trinity College of Music in London, England,
Saint Olaf College, Colorado State University and
her doctorate from the University of Northern Colorado is finished all but dissertation.
Ms. Monroe-Fischer has been conductor/musical director for numerous opera, operetta and musical theater productions.
She is a calligrapher and linguist,
and spent six months teaching English and studying Chinese language and calligraphy in the Peoples Republic of China.
She lives in Loveland with her husband and her Scottish Terrier, Bonnie.
FROM OUR PRESIDENT:
March was another interesting month for LAMTA.
Just two weeks after Achievement Day we had our Duet and Ensemble Recital.
The students were amazingly well prepared and
the program had a wonderful mix of selections which included
descriptive student pieces, movie music, traditional European selections, and jazz.
A total of fourteen students participated from the studios of four teachers,
Judy Johnson, Gary Knapp, Bill Popp, and Debi Strick.
We thank Ann Bunyan again for being a gracious host.
Don't forget the meeting on April 14.
It is at my house, but the program has changed.
Marjorie was in the middle of an exquisite program on her time in China
when her high tech equipment was struck by technical difficulties.
So, we are pleased to have her recap and continue where she left off.
If you missed the last meeting you now have a second chance to catch this fascinating presentation.
See you soon,
Bill
