President's Corner

Dear Hardworking Members of LAMTA,
What a fantastic job you all did for Achievement Day! And what a great turnout! Many accolades to each and every one of you who put such time and effort into this day from preparing your students and all the work before and on the day. There are not very many groups where each member takes such responsibility, not only on their assigned task but on seeing a need and responding immediately. Our new game area, piano for fun playing, and door prizes went over big time. It was great to hear the kids having such fun at the games. Also the peoples choice award was another super idea. I m sure you all agree that it was a great success.

Special thanks to Sonia and Sandy for doing so much on the organizing. Melissa, the soup idea was delicious! Thanks to Ruth for obtaining our four adjutants - and again, all of you, many thanks.

March 12 is our meeting at Debi Stricks house, It has been awhile since weve had a CSMTA Representative visit with us. We all need to be there to hear Bonnie Hoffman, especially when our national meeting is in Denver in a few weeks. We have been asked to indicate how many are planning to attend the national so special badges can be ready. Also, have you looked into attending CSMTA at Colorado Springs? This should be very exciting. Going to the Springs is always special.

Remember that our April meeting is later due to Spring Break. It is April 16, and it will be special. A Dalcroze Eurythmics demonstration is being presented by Jeremy Ditters at LDS Church. We hope youll be there. Also, its time to be thinking of next years officers. Who would volunteer to work on the election slate?
See you March 12,
Peggy the Prez

Classic Clementi Concert
On Sunday, March 9, at 4 p.m., the Boulder Area Music Teachers Performance Group will present Classic Clementi at the Boulder Public Library Canyon Theater, 1000 Canyon Blvd.

Muzio Clementi, a famous pianist and composer (1752-1832) will be personified by Boulder's favorite story-teller Len Barron, who will spin the story of "his" life. Several of Clementi's well-known piano pieces will be performed by BAMTA piano teachers Lisa Harrington, Grace Asquith, Lois Abbuhl, Toby Tenenbaum, Stella Pradeau and Heidi Lenzer-Camilli. The Mercury Ensemble (strings, flute, oboe and bassoon) will accompany the pianists with special enhanced parts written by John Branson. Muzio Clementi, the "Father of the Piano", almost single-handedly made the piano a household instrument, with his compositions for both the amateur and professional. He played a pivotal role in mass-production of the piano and the publishing of music for the piano.

Students, parents, and all those who would like a delightful afternoon are invited to share the story. And, if you have ever played Clementi's music or heard it at a student recital, you will recognize many of these much-loved pieces. These special arrangements add a new dimension to these perennial favorites. Admission is free.
