January 2008
January Meeting
January 9, 9:00 a.m., Judy Johnson home
Deep Practicing: Judy Johnson discusses learning a piece well enough for presentation.
"Being prepared for a performance begins when you first learn a new piece. Any mistakes will come back to haunt you. The goal is to learn slowly, carefully and deeply. You must think about every note and make sure you really know the piece, not just hope you know it." Judy

A healthy, happy 2008 to all of you!! I'm writing this note
before Christmas because we're off to Washington on Christmas Day.
Our Christmas Musicale was a real treat! Debi played a beautiful piece which she had composed as did Bill. Bill's can be bought at Music and Arts. Debi should get her's published. Sandy and Mary Ann played Martha Meir's duets. The other three of us, Renee, Peggy, Carolyn (and friends) all had fun presenting our pieces. Judy couldn't be with us but we are looking forward to her presentation in January at her house. Ann was a great hostess and Bill played wonderful accordian music while we enjoyed our lunch.
Our meeting in January is important because we'll be tying up loose ends for Achievement Day. If you have questions concerning your assignment or any other part of the day please have them ready.
We'll see you on January 9, at Judy's. Many wonderful New Year
Blessings.
Music & Arts Closing
Music & Arts has decided to close many of their smaller stores and the Loveland store is on this list. They will close their doors by January 11. Many items are discounted currently. Joe and others plan to open a teaching studio in the same shopping center and continue to do band instrument rental for Music & Arts. They may in the future also carry a few method books for local teachers.
We are really going to miss this wonderful store. No store was ever a better friend and help to local music teachers. Come prepared to sign a card for the staff at the January meeting and contribute a few dollars toward a bouquet of flowers.
Loveland Orchestra
Debbie Rickard
The Loveland Orchestra will present an all-Mozart concert on Saturday, January 26, 7:30 p.m., and again on Sunday, January 27, 3:00 p.m. at First Christian Church, 2000 N. Lincoln (not Loveland High School.) Because it is not a part of the regular season ticket package, the cost is just a $5 donation. On the program is "Symphony No. 40", "Overture to the Magic Flute", "German Dances" and his "Clarinet Concerto", with guest artist Dan Silver. For more information call Debbie at 669-4810 or visit www.lovelandorchestra.org
