President's Message
Hi to All You Wonderful LAMTAites,
Can you believe it - another year is winding down. Our May 9, meeting is going to be a full one, starting with presenting and voting on the slate of officers.

Congratulations to all teachers and especially Elaine Eastman for putting on a great Honors Recital! It just gets better and better. The students performed extremely well with a wonderful variety of pieces.

At our May meeting we will go over Achievement Day and especially what we need to do to get more participation. We'll set up a time for a meeting in early June to make a list of topics and presenters for next years meetings. Also, two of our teachers will talk about National Piano Guild and the National Federation. We hope to hear reports on the Chopin Award and the Cherie Richards scholarship awards. And as usual any other old or new business will be covered. Plan to bring lots of input. Then our discussions will come to some great conclusions.

Finally, there are three people going to the Conference at Silver Creek. We can take two more in my car and in the room. So call Peggy at 203-1586. Bring your usual good pot luck dish to Bill's next Wednesday. See you there.

Thanks for your support and great suggestions during the 2006-07 year.
Peggy Tighe, President

Composition Recital
Debi Strick
Interested in attending a unique recital? Christine Schumann is having a recital Sunday, May 6, at 1:30 at First United Methodist Church, 523 N. Grant Ave. What makes the recital unique? Many of Christine's students are playing pieces they composed. I took a few lessons from Christine, and I am going to play a piece I composed (with her help) called "The Mountain Spring." I think it will be fun to hear pieces composed by her students. Come if you would like.

Survey Results
JoAnn DeStigter
Here are the scholarship survey results that we voted on at the April 11 meeting.

1. Should a student be eligible for a scholarship two years in a row ?
No, a winner must wait a year before applying for the scholarship, again.
2. Should the student have studied for a minimum length of time?
Yes, at least a year and preferably two.
3. What if more than one student from a family applies?
It is preferable if there is one applicant per family, but there can be 2 if there are few applicants in a year.
4. Is there a maximum number of scholarships per year ?
Up to 3 scholarships can be given in a year if there are enough qualified applicants. This will be left to the discretion of the scholarship committee to give 3 or fewer. We noted that we are giving some principal with the interest each year, since the interest earned is minimal, and we do not expect this money to last forever.
