March 2007
March Meeting
Wednesday, March 7, 9:00 a.m.
Student Winners: Why Do They Win?
Location: 1203 Intrepid Drive - home of Sonia Haxton
This meeting will be a teacher panel discussion. Although the selection of student winners is often subjective and occasionally unexplainable, it is of interest to every teacher. Come and help us sort through the elements of a successful performance.
President's Message
Peggy Tighe
Every past president has remarked how competently each member of LAMTA does her/his part in each of our endeavors whether it is Achievement Day or Honors Recital, working on the Scholarship committee or whatever else is required to achieve the true professionalism LAMTA possesses as a musical organization. I add my accolades to the past presidents. All of you stepped up and made February 24 a smooth, fun and achieving day. Thank you for your hard work.
Honor's Recital is April 28. Let Elaine Eastman know as soon as possible who is going to play.
Start planning on your attendance at the CSMTA Conference in Silver Creek June 6 to June 9 now. The more the merrier and the better LAMTA becomes with all the feedback and enthusiasm each participant will bring back.
Please come to the LAMTA meeting this Wednesday, March 7 at Sonia's house. We're discussing "Student Winners: Why do they Win?" See you there.
Music & Arts Special
Sonia Haxton
The teacher special will be available both March 7 and March 14 this month. It will include 30 % off all Phillip Keveren Series books and 30% off all stickers and award certificates.
The Gondliers
Judy Johnson
Gilbert and Sullivan's, "The Gondoliers" will be performed by the Loveland Opera Theatre on March 1,2,3 at 7:30 and March 4, at 2:30, at the Rialto Theatre. It is produced by our own Juliana Bishop-Hoch.
Night Out Anyone?
Bill Popp
Our strolling at Cipoletti's is going quite well. We will be there through April (or perhaps longer) on Mondays. The time has changed (6:00 to 8:00). It's a fun evening.
Bill and Vicky
Summer Music Camps
Sonia Haxton
Anyone interested in doing a music camp this summer should be sending out information to parents now. Contact me if you have any questions or need help with this.
Honor's Recital
Elaine Eastman
Are you giving some thought to which two students will represent your studio at the Honor's Recital this year? Your participation is vital to the success of this special annual event. It will be held on Saturday evening, April 28. Online registration will be available by the middle of March.
Spring Recitals
Last year there was an interest expressed in publishing the times and location of LAMTA teachers' spring recitals in order to have an opportunity to share ideas with other members. If this is something in which you are interested, I would be glad to publish this information again if you will email it to webmaster@lamta.org.
