President's Corner
by Bill Popp
As we approach the end ofthis season,I would like to congratulate everyoneon pulling together for another very successful year. Our May meeting is an important one, with voting for officers and nominations for committee chairpersons at the top of the agenda. Please bring any and all ideas that you may have to the table for discussion. Here are some points that have already been brought to my attention: 1) ideas for a smoother running Achievement Day, 2) getting started on Piano Festival planning, 3) a new officer position to include the Public Affairs Information Manager,4) student performances at Alterra Sterling House, and 5) fund raising activities.Again, all ideas and suggestions are welcome. Together we can make next year even more successful.

Sonia Haxton's Music Camp Material is Available!
Moncure-Haxton Music presents a most exciting summer music camp program now available to other music teachers. Due to a lack of available material on the market, two Virginia (one now Colorado!) piano teachers, Hunter Moncure and Sonia Haxton, have developed music camps on a variety of subjects in order to appeal to all piano students and teachers.

The program enables the student to be immersed in the period being studied, including the clothing, customs, food, and historical events. All of the subject matter in the series has been tried and perfected over several years and can be adapted to all ages and levels of musicianship. The series includes detailed information on the subject matter, ensemble pieces, listening analysis, composition, puzzles, games, and crafts. The series includes student workbooks as well as a definitive teacher's edition complete with all information needed for the camp to run smoothly and efficiently.

This innovative music camp series has been presented at various professional music organizations as well as the MTNA National Convention in Salt Lake City, Utah, and has met with great success and enthusiasm by other teachers across the nation.
