October 2003
From the President's Desk
Judy Johnson
I am really looking forward to our October meeting at the Loveland Gallery! It will be our "35th Year Celebration" and we really have a lot to celebrate. We sent invitations to about 100 people,so we hope to have a really special dayand good attendance from our current membership. I mentioned at the meetingthat Margaret Miller, who was the 1st President of LAMTA will be here and will share some of her memories.I hope that most of our past presidents will be in attendance since they will be introduced ashonored guests. We will be sharing some trivia and interesting facts from the last 35 years. There will be entertainment by some very special people and wonderful refreshments.I hope you will all be able to rearrange your schedules that day and stay for the whole event. We plan to be finished by noon.It is time to celebrate!See you there!

Sharing French Piano and Instrumental Music
This will be the subject of our January 14th meeting. It will be wonderful to hear a variety of French music, but sharing that will be up to each of us. Please plan now to prepare a piece to share with our members. As Nancy Kaesler said in her September program, " This is about the music, not about you." So please don't be shy! Take some time now to select a piece that appeals to you. The difficulty level is of no consequence. We would like a variety of French composers and styles. Even the International Library of Music collection has some easy French pieces in Book 1. Or you may wish to challenge yourself and prepare something a bit more difficult for your instrument. Below is a partial list of French composers from which to choose, or you may have another personal favorite. Enjoy! We look forward to hearing French music to warm our hearts on what could perhaps be a cold January day.
Cecile Chaminade, Francois Couperin, Claude Daquin, Claude Debussy, Leo Delibes, Theodore Dubois, J.B. Duvernoy, Benjamin Goddard, Charles Gounod, Theodore Lack, Paul Lacombe, Jules Massenet, Jacques Offenbach, Gabriel Pierne, J.P. Rameau, Maurice Ravel, Henri Ravina, Camille Saint-Saens, Theodoer Salome, Erik Satie, Francois Thome'
