April Meeting:Dazzling Duos
Piano Duets by Carol Condit & Judy Johnson
Our April program will be "Dazzling Duos," a splendid array of piano duets presented by Judy Johnson and Carol Condit.
Judy is a native of Loveland. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree from BYU. She was drawn into teaching piano because her parents insisted on daily home practice at 6:30 a.m.! Also, her music teachers were very nurturing and she enjoyed being in their homes for lessons. Beethoven and Chopin top a long list of favorite composers for Judy. She feels that their music matches her personality. She listens to classical music often. Judy's favorite color is blue. She has traveled in Europe and would like to return there, in addition to seeing Lake Powell again.
Carol Condit is a native of North Dakota where she graduated from NDSU in music education. She has taught in her studio for over thirty years and has also taught public school music for eight years. Being married to a career Air Force officer afforded her the opportunity to live all over the US. She has studied with Jeanine Yeager for three years. Carol is dedicated to Scandinavian composers in celebration of her Nordic heritage. Her favorite travel destination is Norway. She has lived or traveled in forty-nine of the fifty states with only Hawaii remaining. Her favorite colors are those of the sunset.

Proposed Changes to our LAMTA Constitution and ByLaws
Background:Several years ago Achievement Day was reorganized so that committees would fulfill the necessary responsibilities and thus not overload one person. For the most part this has worked well and should continue, but it means that the President becomes the Achievement Day Chairman because someone has to oversee the committees.Afternoticing how many other local associations are organized, the Executive Committee would like to propose the following changes:
Constitution Article IV -- Officers, Section 1. now reads: The officers of the Association shall be President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer.
Proposed change:The officers of the Association shall be President, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer and shall serve as the Executive Committee.
BY-LAWS Article III -- Duties of Officers
Proposed change:Section 2. The 1st Vice-President instead of Vice-President.
Section 3.The 2nd Vice President shall serve as Students Activities Chairman for the Association. These activities could include but not be limited to Achievement Day, Piano Festival, Honors Recital and Ensemble Recital.
The current Section 3 would become Section 4.
The current Section 4 would become Section 5.
BY-LAWS Article IV -- Election of officers
Proposed change:Section 2. The nomination committee shall present the names of five (5) candidates, one for each of the elective offices.
